JAMES A. MURRAY - back to board of directors
James A. Murray serves as President of AT&T Michigan. Mr. Murray is responsible for regulatory, legislative, and external affairs, as well as community and industry relations throughout the state of Michigan.
Mr. Murray is a board member of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. He also is serving as the Boy Scouts of America 100th Anniversary Celebration for the state of Michigan as well as co-chair of the 2010 Cass Community Social Services annual fundraiser.
His previous role with the company was as Vice-President of Government Affairs for AT&T Michigan. In that role, he was responsible for working with the state legislature and administration on a wide range of telecommunications and other issues. He successfully lead the corporation’s efforts to update many outdated telecommunications laws, video franchise reform, creation of the Michigan Business tax, anti-copper theft legislation and a re-write of Michigan’s 911 law.
Mr. Murray’s experience prior to joining AT&T in 2005 includes 14 years working in legislative offices including being the Deputy Chief of Staff for the Michigan Speaker of the House. Working the in Speaker’s office, Mr. Murray carried out the House’s legislative agenda, including all budgetary and policy issues.
During his time working in the legislature, Mr. Murray ran various local, state and federal campaigns across the state of Michigan.
Mr. Murray is a graduate of Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant. He has two sons, and lives in Williamston.
